Khalif Abu Bakr

By: Abdulqadir Said Ali

Before Abu Bakr was a Muslim he was a very generous man. He freed slaves and most of his money was given to charity. He spent most of the night praying to and giving duah. There was nobody who had better leadership than Abu Bakr. Then when Prophet was at the Cave Hira and he came back Abu Bakr was one of the first people to become Muslim. He also convinced many other people to become Muslim. At that time many Muslims were being tortured and so Abu Bakr who was against any sort of torture bought the slaves and then freed them. Then when the Prophet was dying many people said that they were the new Prophet. But we all know those people were faking because there is no prophet after Prophet Mohammed. Then the prophet died just before the Muslim army went to war. Abu Bakr decided that the Muslims would go to war even if they were without the Prophet Mohammed. Abu Bakr gave instructions to one person n the army named Usama a sheet saying this:
"Do not be deserters, nor be guilty of disobedience. Do not kill an old man, a woman or a child. Do not injure date palms and do not cut down fruit trees. Do not slaughter any sheep or cows or camels except for food. You will encounter persons who spend their lives in monasteries. Leave them alone and do not molest them."

Khalid bin Waleed led the Muslims to victory over the roman army following Abu Bakr’s instructions. When Abu Bakr died on 21 Jamadi-al-Akhir 13 AH Omar became the next Khalif.

This short summery on Abu Bakar is very intresting. It describes how tough his life was and all the opstacles he had to go throught. Especially muslims were slaves and were beaten. But he kept his faith and didn't give up on Allah. I think that since he was one of the first people to be a muslim he left an example for those muslims before he died and that was to keep your faith in Allah and you will always succeed.
