Luqman's advises to his son in the Quran is attractive..Chapter 31, verses 13-19.."And when Luqman said to his son while he admonished him:
O my son! do not associate aught with Allah; most surely polytheism is a grievous iniquity--" (31:13)"And We have enjoined man in respect of his parents-- his mother bears him with faintings upon faintings and his weaning takes two years-- saying:
Be grateful to Me and to both your parents; to Me is the eventual coming." (31:14)"And if they contend with you that you should associate with Me what you have no knowledge of, do not obey them, and keep company with them in this world kindly, and follow the way of him who turns to Me, then to Me is your return, then will I inform you of what you did--" (31:15)"
O my son! surely if it is the very weight of the grain of a mustard-seed, even though it is in (the heart of) rock, or (high above) in the heaven or (deep down) in the earth, Allah will bring it (to light); surely Allah is Knower of subtleties, Aware;"
(31:16)"O my son! keep up prayer and enjoin the good and forbid the evil, and bear patiently that which befalls you; surely these acts require courage;"
(31:17)"And do not turn your face away from people in contempt, nor go about in the land exulting overmuch; surely Allah does not love any self-conceited boaster;" '
(31:18)"And pursue the right course in your going about and lower your voice; surely the most hateful of voices is braying of the asses."
(31:19)Ever heard of these verses? Well, Luqman was believed to be from Nubia, present-day Ethiopia. He was a perceptive man, always watching the animals and plants of his surroundings, and he tried to understand the world based on what he saw. He was a wise man. Allah has mentioned in the Quran:"And certainly We gave wisdom to Luqman,.."
(Luqman, 31:12)So, let's study a little bit of Luqman's advises to his son. In the first advise, Luqman said that one should never practice polytheism which is an ideology of having more than one god. Since in Islam, one should only worships Allah as He is the only God and the only Creator. So we should never idolize other than Allah.
In the verse 14 and 15, Allah has captured Luqman's advises to his son about the correct manners towards the parents whether they are Muslim or not. Luqman said that one should always respect and do good deeds to the parents eventhough they asked one to worship other than Allah. This shows how Muslim are taught to be well manner to the parents eventhough they are not Muslim. Isn't Islam beautiful? And then in the
verse 16, Luqman advised his son about how Allah counts every deed we make, eventhough the deed is very small which no one might not even noticed. In Islam, it is not how good the deed was, it is how sincere the deed. Like Prophet Muhammad P.B.U.H said that every deed is depending on the intention of a person. So, one must remember that everything we done is counted by Allah. After that, Luqman advised his son to keep up the pray to Allah while in the mean time, enjoin the good and forbid the evil. Luqman also said that patient is needed when something bad happens. As all these are obligations to a Muslim. Allah has mentioned in the Quran:"O you who believe! seek assistance through patience and prayer; surely Allah is with the patient." (The Heifer, 2:153)Then,
in verse 18, Luqman advised his son for not to be a boastful man

in verse 19, Luqman advised his son to be polite in walking and also in speaking. As speaking in a very loud voice is hateful as a voice of a donkey..These advises are not only for Luqman's son. Since Allah has captured them in the Quran, one must understand that those advises are for all the mankind in the world. Remember, I'm not a Quran Interpreter like Sayid Qutub, Ibn Kathir and others. So, I hope that you'll inform me if I've done something wrong..
